The climate in Spain has a huge variety ranging from the rain and wind of the north-west coast, to the hot and driest area the south-east coast in which Murcia is situated. Putting things into perspective, the rainfall in Murcia is roughly one third of that in northern Europe.

Despite the high temperatures in the summer causing the region to be one of the driest in Spain, the temperature is still pleasant due to the ever refreshing breeze coming from the sea. The surrounding mountains help shelter the region and results in mild winters with temperatures of 18 degrees Celsius, and rarely dropping below 10 degrees.

The severe absence of rainfall during the summer months causes Murcia to look like a desert with water reservoirs drying up. Up higher in land there are higher humidity levels so trees can survive without relying on irrigation systems to water them. Sierra Espuna is one of Spains renowned Natural Park, if you get that chance to it is a place to visit whilst you are in the Murcia vicinity.
